摘要:初中英语听力元认知策略的应用研究较少。因此,本文将尝试培养初中学生英语听力学习的元认知策略,以测试学生是否能受益于这些战略或,从而可以很容易地改善初中学生听力水平。
1.2 Research Purpose
In order to improve the situation above, this paper sets a goal to investigate theeffects of the metacognitive strategy application on the performance of juniorstudents’ listening comprehension. At the same time the paper tries to promote thestudents’ awareness by training the students metacognitive strategies in listeningprocesses. This study intends to find out the answers to the following two researchquestions:
Chapter Two Literature Review
2.1 Overview
Great changes have taken place in people’s understanding of cognition with thedevelopment of modern cognitive Psychology since the 1960s. People realized thateffective language learning needed not only the learners’ understanding, thoughts,memories but also their learning methods. So many scholars concentrated on thestudy of learning strategies at that time. They showed great interests in researching inlanguage learning. Many of them have made a great contribution to the languagelearning strategies. So researches on learning strategies began at that time. Up to now,a lot of scholars both at home and abroad did a lot to the language learning strategies.In this chapter, the author will show us the current researches on learningstrategies inside and outside China firstly, and then the current researches onmetacognitive strategies abroad and at home, at last the researches on the applicationof metacognitive strategy in listening in China and other countries.
2.2 Researches on Learning Strategy
Language pedagogy emphasized on teacher-centered classroom learning beforethe late 1970s. Since then, it shifted to learner-centered. Therefore, learners havebecome the central figures in the language classroom learning. The role of learner wasalso very important in the learning process (Rubin 1987). After that, scientists begantheir studies in language learning strategy. The earliest scholars who did researches inthis area were Rubin, Naiman et al., Wong-Fillmore and so on.In 1975, Rubin published an article named “What the good language learners canteach us” on TESOL Quarter. This was the start of the research on learning strategy.She found that all the good language learners were similar in learning strategy. Thatmeant proper language learning strategy could help you to become good languagelearner. After that Rubin (1981) divided the learning strategies into two groups. Thefirst one was direct learning strategy. The second was indirect learning strategy.
