tthe same time, autonomous learning needs to be adopted by students in domestichigher vocational college students so that they will learn new English vocabularyfrom all kinds of aspects by themselves instead by forced to do so.The author wants to find a useful method for English vocabulary teachers. Afterseeking for it for a long time, Task-based language approach (also known as TBA)gets my attention. It focuses on the use of authentic language and on asking studentsto do all kinds of meaningful tasks using the target language. These tasks may be tovisit a relative,to develop a job interview, or to call policemen for help. Assessment ismainly based on task outcome rather than on accuracy of language forms. TBA iswidely used throughout the world and is ardently accepted by both teachers andstudents.In recent years, most scholars paid great attention to pronunciation, spelling,grammar and so on, but do not pay enough attention to the relationship betweenTask-base approach and vocabulary teaching and learning especially in highervocational colleges. The author thought that it is necessary to discover the feasibilityand validity of Task-Based Approach in the field of vocabulary teaching in highervocational colleges,


  1.2 Research Aim of the Study研究目标
  Whereas many scholars have applied research in the field of vocabulary teachingmethods and have got some useful results, we still need to get a detailed relativelycomprehensive picture of what domestic higher vocational college students do withtheir English vocabulary learning. This dissertation tries to find how Task-BasedApproach can be used in the process of English vocabulary learning in domestichigher vocational colleges. Based on an experiment actualized by the author, theresearch manages to answer the following questions:(1) What are the vocabulary teaching beliefs of the teachers and students inWuhan Higher vocational College?(2) Is Task-Based Approach more effective in improving students' Englishvocabulary learning and comprehension at different level than the free writingapproach? If so,what will be the effect?(3) What methods and procedures are best in Task-Based Approach as anEnglish vocabulary method in higher vocational colleges?It is hoped that this study will help highlight the importance and benefit ofTask-Based Approach in English vocabulary teaching of domestic higher vocationalcolleges in different zones. At the same time,some teaching strategies and practicalskills are supposed to be found in the research.


  
  1.3 Research Methods of the Research研究方法
  Empirical methodA basic idea in modem science and the scientific method is that all evidencemust be empirical, or empirically based, that is, dependent on evidence orScholar home and abroad have studied a lot on the usage on Task-BasedApproach so that related documents should be referred to achieve helpful reference.Therefore, literature method is also used in this dissertation.

  In the past thirty years, due to all kinds of real restricts and resources, Chineseteachers and students become "victims" of old vocabulary teaching model,such asLecture Method and PPP method for the reason that it maybe more effortless forEnglish teachers to apply in the process of vocabulary teaching, but can not developstudents mastering necessary communicative skills.
