Chapter 1 Introduction
The 21st century is the era of globalization and international economicintegration, China's vocational Education has expanded rapidly because of the rapiddevelopment of the economy, and the status of vocational education is more and moreimportant in the entire education system. The values of vocational education ischanging, which not only trains the skilled workers for the whole society,but alsostrives to provide students with the ways and opportunity to develop their potential inorder to change the final concept of education which is for the purpose of qualifyingfor an occupation, and focus on improving the overall quality of the students, so thatthey have necessary professional competence to engage in certain types ofoccupations, but also contemporary social and cultural heritage which iscorresponding to the level of social development. In a certain sense, compared toprofessional theory courses and internship courses which are relatively preferred bystudents, common cultural courses carry most of the spiritual and capacitydevelopment of the vocational school students, moreover, many elements of thestudents' spiritual and capacity development are based on the inquiry and pursuit ofknowledge, traditional classroom teaching often leads to more and more heavyburden on the students both physically and spiritually, on the other hand, students*learning-weariness mood is more and more serious,which ultimately affect thestudents' learning enthusiasm and creativity and restrict the overall development ofstudents, and all of these are incompatible with the Party's education policy, neweducational theory and the current situation of education development. It istherefore significant to have a scientific and accurate teaching method and evaluationsystem to serve students' needs in teaching practice.

1.1 Background of the Study
As one of the most influential and extensively used languages,English not onlyhas been playing an important role in China's international affairs and competitions,but also is a necessity in personal development. Good command of English is morethan a symbol of high education but rather essential for higher education,better careerdevelopment and higher academic promotion. Therefore, more and more attention hasbeen paid to English education by people, especially by learners themselves [32]. Butdespite the importance of English, it still has tended to be a much neglected part ofthe language program, both in first and foreign or second language teaching(White&Amdt, 1992). Many serious problems exist in the current English teaching invarious vocational colleges. The typical problems include: (1) focusing the result,ignoring the process. English teachers in China just have paid too much attention tothe examination results but not the learning process for a long time.
