摘要:In the process of students' English learning, the teacher should develop and intensify students' English learning motivation through definite teaching goals. The factors which influencing English learning motivation is complex.

tudents have clear purpose and study hard according to specific plans; however, the process of learning is strongly utilitarian. These students are always vulnerable to external factors. For example, they will adjust their learning programs according to the need of job.
     3.1.3 Obligation-performing Type
     This kind of college students learns English merely in order to meet their obligations. In their opinions, they will not live up to the expectations of parents and teachers when they pass CET-4, CET-6 or TEM-8. Their English learning is a kind of no alternative. In English learning, these students are in lack of enthusiasm and constancy.
     3.1.4 Ambiguous Type
     Such students do not have a clear purpose towards learning English. Most of them are in the state of passive learning. They have never considered the reasons for English learning. Thus, these students are very passive in English learning.
     3.2 The Actuality of College Students' English Learning Motivation

    According to the first questionnaire, we can see that the proportion of ambiguous type is relatively high among the freshmen. It is because that they were lost and did not form new English learning habit after entering into university. On the other hand, most of the freshmen in the college entrance examination are winners. They are enthusiastic and ambitious who have strong thirst for knowledge. Therefore, the proportion of synthetic type and personal perspective type is also relatively high. Most of college will organize sophomore and Junior to participate National College English Level Test, such as CET-4 or TEM-8, so from the chart we can see clearly that the ratio of personal perspective type increased significantly. Because of age, step-by-step physical maturity and school and family education, the psychological maturity has been greatly improved, that's why the rate of obligation-performing type is increasing from the first year to the fourth year in the college. At the same time, many students begin to think about their own future and try up to live up to their ideals, thus the proportion of ambiguous type is reducing year by year. Especially in the fifth year, most college students have reached the peak of development. They realized that English is a kind of professional skill which can benefit you for a whole life.

 According to the second questionnaire, it is easy to see that the English learning motivation is proportion to the achievements. More clearer motivation the students have, the better the results. Those learners with positive attitudes towards another language than those with more negative attitudes. Their emphasis is on the process of achievement and not the end result. For instance, if the learner who is interested in the social and culture customs of native speakers of the language they are learning, they are likely to be successful.
