摘要:In the process of students' English learning, the teacher should develop and intensify students' English learning motivation through definite teaching goals. The factors which influencing English learning motivation is complex.

4.1.2 A Sense of Achievement in the Process of Learning
 The sense of achievement affects learning motivation directly. In the process of learning achievement, the students who get the joy of success have more confident in their ability of learning. The continuity of getting good grades in the examination can make students work harder and maintain good condition. When students read an English article in clear and fluent pronunciation or make a duty report successfully, they will feel very proud of that. Especially when you communicate with an native English speaker, as for yourself, this is the biggest success. Its significance is far off the good grades. Because the most basic function of language is to make people communicate with each other.
 4.2 The Negative Factors
 4.2.1 Incorrect Psychological Competition
 Some college students hold incorrect views towards academic achievements. They pay much attention to the results which compared with others, and also want to get the recognition from teachers and respect from schoolmate. College students often base on their own and other people's academic achievement comparison to judge the results of their study is whether good or not. In particular, they like to compare with the classmates and roommates. If there are some aspects fall behind, it will result in anxiety. Thus these college students strive to make progress in order to change this status quo, however, if the one who make effort but does not get progress, he will be discouraged and lose learning motivation.
 4.2.2 The Lack of Study Time
 College students need to learn a lot of professional subjects. For them, to learn these subjects need a considerable amount of time. Inputs for the English proficiency formation are of vital importance. English learning process is a gradual, continuous process of accumulation. Thus the lack of input make them hope to achieve quick results and finally lead to their inauthentic English proficiency. Learning motivation is naturally weakened. 


   Ⅴ.Ways to Motivate College Students in English Learning
5.1 Creating Good Atmosphere in the Classroom
 
 Zorn(1991) found that trait motivators were not good predictors of           individuals' motivation for specific educational situations or tasks, especially if the task is particularly interesting or important to them. It is assumed from these assumed findings that a classroom instructor can have a great deal of influence over the students' willingness to participate in the educational process. This counters many long held beliefs that many students are unreachable or not open to being motivated.(Yuan Yichuan,2007:16)

It is effective and functional to apply various and interesting activities with moderate challenge to attract students to arouse their curiosity in English learning in view of intrinsic motivation, arousal and the characteristic of language learning.
