Chapter One
INTRODUCTION
The chapter focuses on the research background, which includes the introduction of the political documents translation and its previous studies. Then the layout of the thesis is introduced.
1.1 Research Background
Thanks to the reform and opening-up, China's communication with the world has been greatly strengthened in recent years. China has now made its own voice heard around the world. All the other countries are starting to pay close attention to the arising eastern dragon, though we humbly believe that China still have a long way to go. Chinese people realize that for a more advanced China, we need more communication and exchanges with other countries. For a more international world, we all need more interactions with China. When talking about the definition of international communication, Hachten (2000) considers international communication as "international political communication".
Although this word seems to be a little complicated, it's a very bright idea, for the term "international political communication" includes the ideas of "public diplomacy", "overseas information project", "cultural communication" or even sounds like "propaganda activities" or "political propaganda". He further explains "international political communication" as the political effect that could be achieved through newspaper, broadcasting, movies, intellectual communication, cultural communication and other forms of international communications. By these ways, Chinese people start to feel so proud of China that has greater influence in the world.
