Brazil is a huge country, a giant actually. It’s known because it is home to the biggest rainforest in the whole world. The Amazon forest covers most of the Amazon basin in South America. The basin is about 1.2 billion acres while the forest is about 5.5million kilometers. To be exact Brazil owns 60% and the rest is located in 8 different nations: Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, & French Guiana. Brazil is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and is expected to be one of the great powers of the worlds in a few decades. Brazil is also home to Indigenous people who compromise a large number of ethnic groups. Traditionally they were mostly semi-nomadic tribes who subsisted on hunting, fishing, gathering, and migrant agriculture. For indigenous people land is very important. Deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest threatens many species of tree frogs, which are very sensitive to environmental changes. The indigenous people are also affected by this. They often refer to the forest as their mother. Land gives them water, food, a place to live. Without land there is no life. But since the 1980s, there have been sudden increases in the use of the Amazon Rainforest for mining, logging and cattle ranching. This is posing a severe threat to the people. Settlers illegally intruding on indigenous land continue to destroy the environment necessary for indigenous peoples' traditional ways of life. Globalization is changing the world’s ancient cultures just like it’s doing to the Hammer tribe.

Immigration is another factor of globalization. Immigration according to Wikipedia.com is the introduction of new people into a habitat or population. This is become a problem everywhere. In my country, everybody talks about how they are going out of the country the minute they can. They usually want to go to America, but why? It’s because of the influences their movies and music have on us. We think by going there we will live a high class life, without any worries or hard work. Now United States of America is made up of many different types of races; African Americans, Asian Americans, and Italian Americans etc… This has brought on a major source of population growth and cultural change throughout the United States. The economic, social, and political aspects of immigration have caused debate regarding ethnicity, economic benefits, and jobs for non-immigrants, settlement patterns, impact on upward social mobility, crime, and voting behavior.

Immigration is also causing problems in Italy. The Immigrants coming to Italy are usually there illegally. Italy’s the fact that Italy is in a perfect spot for immigration is unfortunately bringing issues on how to prevent these illegal immigrant. Many Africans have died somewhere along the route across the Mediterranean Sea to get from places like Tunisia and Libya (especially after the riot there) to southern Italy. Officials have tried discouraging people from trying to make the trip by publicizing accidents happening on the way, showing them that it is not worth the risk.
