For example, this is evident as the authors further stated that there are some IT professionals who, despite the constant variations and advancements in this industry, have not advanced as quickly as the computer world. Also, it can be difficult to move from one skill to the next if the information about the required skills are not readily available. Likewise, Lee and Han, 2009 suggested that also because of the expansion within this type of field, organizations look for IS professionals with skills that are in demand along with other appropriate skills that can be useful in achieving the institution’s set goals.


Nevertheless, according to Hartman et al., 2005 between the periods of 1998 to 2003, adequate communication abilities have that seems to be a vital skill required for any entry level IT personnel. Though, as the environment of a business undergoes changes and are competing with others, the IS professional is required to take it one step further and go beyond the technical skills employed (Tesch, Braun and Crable, 2008). Essentially, understanding the skills which are required for an IT professional is of significant importance for any employer. As a matter of fact, for various institutions this is vital because once these skilled workers are hired there is an assumption that there would be less time required in preparing these individuals as new employees (McMurtrey, Downey, Zeltmann & Friedman, 2008).


Moreover, in analyzing the requirements for entry level IT personnel, researchers who have conducted studies on the topic have done so with a similar purpose in mind. Each researcher started out with investigations that would help to provide clarity on the requirements or skill sets that employers require for entry level employees particularly in the various IT departments. Furthermore, Handel noted that in assessing the entry level skills researchers have arrived at a conclusion that it can be difficult to determine the skills that various employers want entry level personnel to possess. Additionally, the writer stated that researchers have determined that there is a level of complexity in also trying to determine the skills that workers have. As a result, researchers face a difficulty in being able to assess the required skills. Even so, there becomes less information available because of the difficulty in ascertaining and gathering such data. Furthermore, not only is there a challenge in assessment but there are also issues in terms of the shortage of these skills. For instance, Handel asserted that along with determining these skills, researchers often time find that there is a shortage for a specific skill or requirement usually due to technological advances of the company or other underlying factors. Nevertheless, each researcher has indicated the need to research the skills required by IT professionals.


For any entry level position there are basic skills that each employer would require candidates to possess. These skills include communication which deals with the relationship between the employees and the customers.
