2.2 Overview of Appraisal Theory 
Systemic  Functional  Linguistics  regards  language  as  diachronically  change  of meaning rather than passive reflection of sense, and also a social phenomenon which is deicide  by  the  context,  and  oriented  by  semantic.  In  Halliday's  Systemic  Functional Grammar,  interpersonal  meaning  refers  to  the  role  of  interpersonal  relationships  in  a certain  context  or  on  the  sentence  level,  such  as  mood  and  modality,  etc.  (Halliday, 2001). However, there doesn’t exists a mature system to reveal how speakers show their emotions and positions, pass emotion, make judgment and put their values into practice in the community before Appraisal Theory appears. (Martin, 2000) Appraisal  Theory  is  developed  from  the  interpersonal  meaning  of  systemic functional  linguistics,  and  it  is  a  new  breakthrough  for  the  study  of  interpersonal meaning,  which  focuses  on  the  language  resources  and  attitude  expression  which coordinate  social  relations.  Martin  defined  Appraisal  theory  as:  'Appraisal  theory  is about the evaluation of the various negotiate attitudes, involved emotion and intensity, value  of  things  indicated in  discourse  and  different  ways  of  jointing  readers  '(Martin, 2004b).
