p;hot research topic for lexicographers and much more research productions came into being. Though different their research rational, their research perspectives, methods, as well as their starting and ending points are the same: the monolingual dictionary definition is to disclose conceptual feature of the defined words; and the bilingual dictionary is to find out the conceptual equivalent of the target words. Before definition, it is first to clarify what is meaning. The western linguists and philosophers have had disputes about it for so many years without a definite meaning theory. Then they proposed their own opinions about meaning. A nomination has meaning through indicating or referring to the actual objects or facts in the exterior world, in other words, the meaning of a nomination is the object it indicates or refers to. That is the referential theory of meaning. According to meaning of concept, words are connected with objects through the intermediate link, the concept in mind, which means meaning of concept regards the word meaning as concept closely related to the objects. Meaning is gained from concepts marked by words or expressions which are needed in thinking exchange. In strong against to concept in mind, the meaning of behavior stresses the effect exerted by language in use and views meaning of language from the impact of language on the hearers.

Chapter Two Literature Review
2.1 Linguistic Studies on Chinese Numeral Idioms
Currently, foreign scholars have done little linguistic studies on Chinese numeral idioms. Korea researcher Han Zaijun took Chinese idioms starting with ‘一’ for study to explore the relationship between culture and idioms, and he pointed out that idioms were integrated with culture in content. Domestic scholars do much more research on Chinese numeral idioms with a wide range of studies scope. The majorities are related with culture and Chinese language teaching. We here mainly discuss from three aspects: semantic studies, syntactic studies and pragmatic studies. 2.1.1 Semantic Studies on Chinese Numeral Idioms Much more Chinese learners study Chinese numeral idioms from semantic point which focuses on the abstract meaning of Chinese numeral idioms, such as Huang Yuezhou (1980) and Zhang Kangmei (1993).
