摘要:调查结果表明:不少教师对英语翻译课程测试的认识并不充分,将翻译课程测试等同于测试翻译水平,并未正确认识到翻译能力、教学目标和阶段性成果之间的关系;翻译课程测试整体及格率较高,分数相对较高,激励作用不强。

提高翻译课程测试对翻译教学的积极作用

作为在翻译教学中起着重要作用的翻译课程测试,无论从测试目的、测试类型和测试内容的确立到测试的具体实施都应得到严格的控制,以保证测试能够有效地反馈教学情况,促进教学。然而,我国翻译课程测试并未受到足够的重视。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
There are many reasons to develop translation testing,some seek to develop English reading proficiency with English-Chinese translation,some aim at language proficiency by translation and others focus on translation and interpretation proficiency.No matter what the purpose is,a critical understanding of the principles and practice of language testing must be remembered.
There is no denying testing has played a critical role on the development of every course and it is also applied to translation course.Translation curriculum testing is a name for the assessment and tests in Translation course of English undergraduates.It as a tool is used to indicate group or individual progress to the translation instructional objectives,to make teachers and students have a clear on the studying.More specifically,it not only can check the execution of teaching syllabus but also evaluate the translation teaching and promote the reform of teaching.
Indeed,encountering the increasing needs of excellent translators,scholars,field experts and teachers are active conduct relative research and write papers.Generally speaking,the academic study on translation testing in China is well under way.
Nonetheless,there are still some potential problems in this field,especially translation curriculum testing.First of all,the study on translation testing and assessment is established relatively later in China and translation testing studies mainly center on the general concept of translation that even do not distinguish the different categories of translation testing.In the aspect of translation testing of English Majors,translation curriculum testing as an important part has not been completely developed yet.Most of studies emphasized the large-scale language tests such as TEM8 or mainly discussed the validity of translation testing.In light of the differences between translation curriculum testing and translation testing,we should put our attention to the research of translation curriculum testing.In the aspect of translation curriculum testing study,some professors refer to the methods of promoting the development of translation curriculum testing that mainly focused on the theoretical study.However, discussing problems in translation testing simply or even putting these questions existing in translation testing equals to that in translation curriculum testing is not scientific and correct.
Thus,when it comes to the field of translation curriculum testing,something should be done for the empirical study of translation curriculum testing to find out its own unique questions.In the actual testing,translation teachers tend to pay more attention to test students’translation competence rather than detect the learning achievements in the whole semester;some even equal the difficult level to the form of items;not enough diversity in content can lead a negative effect on students.In the study,the author is looking forward to verify these questions or more via the investigation and analysis and expects to provide the appropriate means to settle these problems.
