1.1 A Brief Introduction to Xi You Ji对西游记的简述
Xi You Ji and its AuthorXi You Ji,which is one of the four masterpieces of Chinese classic novels (theother three are Romance of Three Kingdoms, Outlaws of the Marsh, A Dream of RedMansions), appeared at the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the QingDynasty and is popular with people at home and abroad. Xi You Ji appeared duringthe reign period of Ming Emperor Jiajing in the 16^ century. It was based on thestory of a historical journey, which had long been handed down for manygenerations, made by a Buddhist monk of the Tang Dynasty to the west of China.https://www.51lunwen.org/translation/  Itis written by Wu Chengen,a novelist in the Ming Dynasty (1368 1644). Xi YouJi has been immensely popular in China for over 400 years on account of its freshand complicated plots, distinctive and vivid characters, profound and incisiveideological content, and light-hearted style. Consisting of 100 chapters, this novelrelates the adventures of a Buddhist monk, Xuan Zang and his three disciples,Monkey, Pig and Friar Sand, as they go on a pilgrimage to India for Buddhistscriptures during Tang Dynasty (618 907). The first seven chapters recount thebirth of the Monkey Sun and his rebellion against Heavenly monarch. Then inchapters' eight to twelve, we leam how Xuan Zang is bom and why he intends tosearch for the sutras,as well as how he is prepared for the journey. The rest of thestory describes how they vanquish demons and monsters, tramp over the FieryMountain, cross the dangerous rivers, and after overcoming eighty-one disasters,disciples.(周群,2010:157 ) The core of Confucianism is humanism, the belief thathuman beings are teachable, improvable and perfectible through personal andcommunal endeavor especially through self-cultivation. Confucianism focuses onthe cultivation of virtue and maintenance of ethics, the most basic of which arebenevolence, righteousness, and ritual propriety.Whether Confucianism is a religion or not has been debated for more than onehundred years. Since 2003 the debate seems to have taken a turn. A large number ofintellectuals and students are converting to Confucianism, making it a strongintellectual force. Some have gone further to turn Confucianism into a religion, toobtain recognition from the Chinese government, and even make Confucianism theofficial state religion of China.(李申,2009) While the author does not necessarilyagree with all of their interpretations about Confucianism, it is undeniably true thatConfucianism has a strong religious elements. It speaks to the heart as well as themind of the Chinese. Besides, Confucianism along with Buddhism and Taoism ishistorically treated as one of three religious traditions known as sanjiao heyi (三教合一 )Hence, the author considers it along with Buddhism and Taoism.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ConfuciousTaoismTogether with Confucianism, Taoism has exerted great influence on the mi论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
