　　在这一章中，首先对本文作了总结，其次是对本进一步的研究和语用意义提出了建议和局限性。In this chapter, the major summary of the thesis is first presented, followed by the limitation and suggestions for further studies and pragmatic implications.
　　Through analyzing the numerous examples of “alternative” translation in the famous American sitcom The Big Bang Theory, this thesis of my paper aims at the positive effect of RenRen’s “alternative” Translation in American Sitcom and extending the approaches to the analysis of humorous utterances in sitcom and conversational texts. Through these analyses, I find that the theories and approaches of pragmatics have great interpretative power to explain “alternative” Translation is a tentative exploration on the field of “alternative” Translation on the context of conversation, but it will attract more attention to this special field and hence will help them in interpreting and producing English sitcom humor, and also facilitates the use of humor in communication.
　　Since the study is only problems unsolved and much an initial attempt of the author, there must be some room for improvement. Firstly, selecting examples of “alternative” Translation based on the author of this thesis and audience's laughter may be with problems of indeterminacy and subjectivity. Secondly, the scale or degree of the verbal humor effects is not taken into account when we do the analysis. Different pragmatic strategies may bring about different degree of humorous effects, that is, some pragmatic strategies may achieve better humorous effects than the others. This kind of study can be further developed. Finally, within the limited time and space, we do not go beyond the bounds of the discussion of verbal humor in American sitcom. In the study of verbal-visual media discourse, the importance comparative of nonverbal communication must be taken into account.
　　Pragmatic theories are not specifically designed for analyses of verbal humor, but they can be used to explore that how the verbal humor is generated and interpreted. Understanding “alternative” Translation from pragmatic analysis could assist L2 learners in interpreting and appreciating verbal humor. “Alternative” Translation also contributes to the second language acquisition. It not only helps to create an easy learning environment, but also enables L2 learners to better enjoy and understand the target language.
　　Since “alternative” translation can act as a social lubricant which can facilitate interpersonal harmony, more importance is supposed to be attached to the studies of it. Furthermore, “alternative” Translation as an essential element in sitcom creation for the success of it will make the sitcom more popular.
