摘要:由于CE对外宣传材料翻译已成为越来越重要的当今中国,宣传自己的世界,如何提升质量的翻译从我们的政府已经吸引越来越多的关注。

Owning to changes of political power, years of foreign invasion, andinner culture revolution, the old China was too weak and busy to spare time on research of C-Etranslation. Less effort is made to the applied field. Yan Fu(严复),a famous scholar andtranslator at that time.He brought out his essay《国闻报缘起》(The Genesis Of The NationalNews”)that the purpose of newspapers was of communication both between the authority andthe low class,and between the Chinese and foreign information.(“求通:一日通上下之情,二日通中外之故。”) (Yan Fu1897,qouted by Zhong Yah,2004:35). We can see there were afew elites of that society that had awareness of introducing real China outside through medialike newspaper.
After the found of new China in 1949, China became a big independent country withsovereignty. The central government started to pay more attention on communicating withoutside world, especially how to publicizing China’s achievements and stance to them.Chairman Mao Zedong suggested that we should”let our voice heard all over the world”in1955.It was an important means to show China to other countries and create favorableinternational environment for China’s social and economic development.Besides, some othergovernment leaders like Zhou Enlai, Chen Yi, and scholars started to emphasize theimportance of translating the political life of our country to the world. During the 1950s and1960s, a series of translation projects were launched and specialized translation institutionswere built up. For example, the Foreign Language Press was formally established on July,1952, specializing in editing, translating and publishing books and periodicals in foreignlanguages;the Central Translation Bureau was set up and a large number of specialized C-Etranslators were hired and trained.
