摘要:本研究关注了目前在英语专业高年级阶段实施的体裁文本依托文学课程体系改革的教学效果,探讨了该体裁文本依托文学课程体系所存在的问题,并尝试性地提出解决问题的相关策略。

ign Languages has initiated a series of compulsory courses for English majors inthe higher division. Dalian University of Foreign Languages constructed a newcurricular system based on GTB literature courses. The GTB literature coursesconsisted of five compulsory courses {English Novels’ English Short Stories, EnglishDrama, English Prose, and English Drama) according to genre texts to substitute theconventional LKB literature courses of History of British Literature and History ofAmerican Literature. These five compulsory courses made up a more systematiccurriculum to improve students' language skills and their knowledge in subject areasthrough literature courses.


  1.2 Significance of the study研究意义
  被视为文学课程,让学生提高他们的第二语言/外语识字。作为在中国高校英语专业的主要课程Literature courses are considered as essential for students to improve theirsecond/foreign language literacy. As the major courses for English majors in collegesand universities in China, the position of literature courses in the Syllabus for EnglishMajor Education in Tertiary Institutions (hereinafter referred to as Syllabus) has beenprominent. Literary works posses the tortuous plots, the original narration, the vividdetails, different devices and elegant language; they are the best material for languagelearning. What's more, literature courses are also very helpful in enhancing thestudents' motivation,improving their academic knowledge, and fostering their criticalthinking. Neglect of literature teaching is likely to result in failing quality in theeducation of English majors which is a great concern of many far-sighted scholars andeducators in China.This study focuses on a reform of GTB literature courses. It aims at identifyingthe strengths of the reform, finding out its deficiencies, and exploring the copingstrategies to preserve the strengths and overcome the weaknesses of the GTBliterature courses. The result of the present study is likely to improve the instructionof literature for English majors.


  1.3 Objectives of the study研究目标
  The objectives of the present study are:1) to identify the positive and negative effects of GTB literature courses forEnglish majors in the higher division and evaluate the GTB literature courses;2) to find out the deficiencies of the GTB literature courses;3) to explore the coping strategies to preserve the strengths and minimize thenegative impacts of the GTB literature courses in order to raise the efficiency of GTBliterature courses for English majors.


  1.4Overall structure of the thesis论文的总体结构
  This thesis is composed of five chapters.In Chapter One, a brief introduction is made to the whole thesis, which includesbackground knowledge for the focus of the present study,the objectives of theresearch,and the significance of the study as well as the overall structure of the thesis.Chapter Two is literature review, presenting a theoretical foundation for thepresent study. In this chapter, the key concepts and theoretical background of CBI,including the definition,the principles, and the theoretical support,etc., are clarified.The rationale of the reform is presented in this chapter.The research questions are raised in Chapter Three, and the research design,participants,instruments, procedures of data collection, and the method of dataanalysis are presented in this chapter.Chapter Four is the most significant part of this thesis.
