ade liberalization and the NAMA-11, a group of developing countries seeking for possibilities to limit market opening in industrial goods trade. [24]
The memberships in those group show something which seems quite similar to China in its trade policy: protection of the own market and firms, and fighting for advantages in foreign countries. As there were no activities of nationalization in the past years, the trade policy can be named as typical for a state like Brazil, practically orientated at what is best for the country in a way that they still are part of the world community in terms of economics, which means basically not outside as Cuba, North Korea or Venezuela are.
The MERCOSUR-membership may be seen as an important step in regional integration as the constant positive growth rates (excpet for 2009, the year of the financial crisis) all over Latin America will provide bigger markets in the neighbor states and will offer a lot of business possiblities.
8.在国际经济贸易系统中的作用-8. The role in international economic and trade systems
Brazils role in the international economic and trade system is changing. Some years ago, Brazil was not very important. And it is still not a country of which depends the welfare of the whole world, as it depends from China or the USA. But especially within Latin America Brazil is nowadays the most important economy, comparable to the role Germany has in Europe. Although it is growing slowly, Brazil's growing wealth may be helpful to all the other countries as it creates demand for products, and as you can see all over the world, the direct neighbours are nearly everywhere the best - at least in the amount of exports and imports as it is logically because of lower transportation costs. The international competitiveness report, juding nearly every aspect of business sees Brazil actually on rank 56 of 130, after 64 and 72 in 2009 and 2008, far ahead of all other Latin American countries, except for Chile. [25] Although rank 56 is not really something to show off about, after 64 and 72 this positive, probably ongoing development point out a nice future.
9.结论-9. Conclusion
As mentioned at the beginning, Brazil is standing at an important point in its development. After the financial crisis it is difficult all over the world to say how the future looks like. But it seems like there is not much that can stop the Brazilian development to a really big economy and out of poverty as the growth seems to be the result of a development in many ways and became self enforcing. With that rise Brazill will have to accept a leading, if not THE leading role in Latin America in economics and politics.
So what can be a policy recommendation for the new president? If we loke at the younger past, it can only be: Go on. The right decisions were made, and the actual growth has to be used to maintain that way. The only thing that has to considered is to avoid an overheating of the economy to avoid a breakdown on the one hand and inflation on the other hand. A high inflation could destroy the progress that was made, especially for the poor people. As all countries Brazil will face rapidly increasing energy prices, especially after reaching the peek oil, if it has not been reached yet. This adds to the 'to do'-list the need to use today's resources to prepare the country for this time. But as Dilma Rousseff, Lulas favourite for p
