a of learner autonomy is a basis of theschool curriculum.In recent years,https://www.51lunwen.org/TeachingEnglish/org201211062245256355.html  more and more teachers have begun to use TBLT in language teaching,and lots of researchers have started to investigate the use of TBLT in EFL in Chinese context.However, papers on TBLT mostly focus on theories or practical use of TBLT while therelevance between TBLT and learner autonomy is still inadequate, especially in whetherTBLT can cultivate learner autonomy.

 

1.2 Purpose and Significance of the Research
The paper is of much theoretical and practical significance in that the research aims atwhether learner autonomy can be cultivated by TBLT, which pays much attention tostudents' personal affections and needs, and focuses on the meaningful learning in the realsituation. On the other hand, through TBLT, students leam what is meaningful to them bycompleting all kinds of tasks, and the learning process is closely linked to how people feelabout themselves, and takes places in a social context through interaction with other people.TBLT aims at changing the beliefs of the English leaning, cultivating the intrinsic motivationin the students, and promoting the ability to use learning strategies correctly. If TBLT cancultivate learner's autonomy, this kind of teaching approach can be widely adopted incollege English teaching. Thus the atmosphere of teaching and learning will be morepleasant, and the students' motivation of English learning will be changed.

 

1.3 Research Questions
The paper will focus on the effectiveness of TBLT on learner autonomy. The research isexpected to answer the following questions:(1) Can TBLT play a role in cultivating learner autonomy?(2)Will TBLT positively influence students' learning motivation and attitude towardsEnglish learning?(3) Does TBLT facilitate students' development in using learning strategies when.leaming autonomously?
