本文是一篇英语教学法论文,本文通过应用研究,以问卷调查、测试和访谈为研究工具,研究者试图探讨基于语篇衔接理论的“读写结合”教学模式对高中生英语写作态度、衔接手段使用和写作成绩变化的影响。

Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

With the continuous development of economy and the deepening ofglobalization,English as a tool has increasingly become one of the important skillsthat people must master.This also improves the requirements for senior high schoolstudents to learn language.Learning one language must include four input and outputlinks:listening,speaking,reading and writing.To achieve students’real acquisition ofa language,output is of vital importance,and speaking and writing are the two mainways of output.However,owing to lack the authentic and real second languagelearning environment,students have a few opportunities to speak English or expresstheir ideas in English.Therefore,writing is broadly regarded as the only and feasibleway to achieve English language generation practice.Accordingly,it is necessary and essential for both teachers and students to spend more time in exploring effective andefficient methods to teach and learn English writing.

As is pointed out in New English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School(2017),the overall objective of English course is to cultivate and develop students’comprehensive competence.And on this basis,how to use language correctly andaccurately in English writing becomes one of the crucial abilities for students,and italso lays emphasis on the discourse knowledge that is considered as the foundation ofdeveloping the ability of using language.With the English reformation of the collegeentrance examination,the continuation writing has become a new writing type,whichgreatly improves students’writing requirements and standards.For example,studentsneed to pay attention to the degree of cohesion with the given paragraph,to use thegiven key words to enrich the writing content,and to apply proper grammar structuresto make sure the discourse coherence.It is obvious that discourse coherence not onlybecomes the scoring standard of composition,but also a test of students’writingability.Accordingly,senior high school students are expected to take advantage ofvarious cohesive devices to make sentences more fluent and the content morecoherent.

1.2 Significance of the Study

Through the observation of practical teaching and reading literature,theresearcher finds that senior high school students’English writing ability is weakerthan other English skills.In the process of writing,most students lack learning inputand ignore the accumulation of language and the application of skills.To a large extent,this has led to the fatal problems of their writing,such as unclear expression,poor vocabulary,illogicality and especially the irrational and disordered discourseorganization.Therefore,it is very necessary for teachers to apply the“reading-to-write”teaching model based on discourse cohesion theory in senior high schoolEnglish writing teaching.
