2.1.2 Interactive Teaching Model

1.Definition of Interactive Teaching Model

For the definition of Interactive Teaching Model,at present,the discussion onthe connotation of Interactive Teaching Model has not been conclusive.Domesticscholars interpret it from different angles.

Biddulph(1984)suggests that Interactive Teaching Model should be calledfocused teaching,for it includes case analysis,situational simulation,groupdiscussion and other basic forms.Jin Yi(2011)holds that Interactive TeachingModel is a process of achieving the above-mentioned goals through all-round mutualpromotion and connection between teaching and learning in order to meet the needsof students effective learning and the needs of society for talents in market economy,and to promote the improvement of teachers'own level and teaching effect.In Wang Dong's(2020)opinion,the Interactive Teaching Model refers to the teaching processin which the teacher guides the gradual transition from teacher-student dialogue tostudent-student dialogue in classroom teaching,and it is the mutual interactionbetween the teacher and the students first,then the mutual help and cooperationbetween students aided by the teacher.The development of Interactive TeachingModel nowadays has entered the era of online interaction using Internet,clickers andother tools.The research of Interactive Teaching Model is gradually inclined to theapplication of various interactive tools in the west.

2.2 Theoretical foundations for Interactive Teaching Model

2.2.1 Constructivism

Constructivism probes into the cognitive process of human beings.Theproposer of constructionist theory of teaching was psychologist Piaget who started itin the 1960s.The development of this theory goes with the long-term study ofVygotsky,Ausubel and Bruner.Interactive Teaching Model is closely related toconstructivist theory.

George Bobder(1989)proposed that learning is realized as learners construct knowledge in their minds.Nunan(1991)thought that learning is the construction ofmeanings.In interactive teaching model,the learner constructs the meaning byinteraction between the learner and the learning materials.

According to the theory of constructivism,learners,not teachers,are theconstructors knowledge.Teachers only direct and push forward the process.Individual students have their own limitations of knowledge.Therefore,to achievecomprehensive understanding of different opinions and overcome their owndifficulties,learners are required to cooperate and interact with each others and theirteachers.They also have to interact and negotiate with learning materials(Zhao Peili,2020).
