摘要:本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本研究基于勒温(Lewin,1936)的场动力理论、默里(Murray,1938)的需求-压力理论、穆斯(Moos,1974)的人类环境理论和建构主义学习理论,通过中学生英语课堂环境调查问卷、访谈和课堂观察,调查太原市太原师范学院附属中学8个平行班共388名学生和8名英语教师的英语课堂环境感知现状。

Chapter Four Results Analysis and Discussion

4.1 Current situation of students’perception of English classroomenvironment

In order to describe and analyze the current situation of students’perception ofEnglish classroom environment clearly and logically,the author classifies this part intotwo sections and presents tables respectively.In this research,a five-point Likert scale ischosen to provide an objective standard for the assessment on each dimension.Inparticular,mean scores within(0,2.4)are considered as low frequency level,within(2.5,3.4)are considered moderate,and within(3.5,5)are high frequency level(cited in Xu Jinfen,2015).

According to the data shown in Table 4.1,the mean score of the 368 junior highschools students’overall perception to the current English classroom environment is 3.84,which means that the students’perception of their English classroom environment is at arelatively high level.It indicates that junior high school students are basically satisfiedwith their current English classroom environment.

5.1 Major findings

Through employing research instruments,analyzing and discussing results ofquantitative and qualitative data,the thesis draws the following major findings.

Firstly,students’overall perception of English classroom environment is at a highlevel.In terms of six dimensions of classroom environment,students’perception ofTeacher Support is the highest,and of Task Orientation is the lowest.

Secondly,there is a significant difference in overall perception of English classroomenvironment between male and female students,and female students have betterperception than male students.In terms of six dimensions,differences in perception ofTask Orientation,Student Cohesiveness,Cooperation and Situational Support betweenmale and female students are significant,and perception of female students is higher inthese four dimensions than that of male students.While there is no significant differencein perception of Teacher Support and Class Order between male and female groups.

Thirdly,there is a significant difference in overall perception of English classroomenvironment between students in Grade 8 and Grade 9,and perception of students inGrade 8 is significantly higher than those in Grade 9.In terms of six dimensions,there aresignificant differences in perception of Teacher Support,Student Cohesiveness,Cooperation and Situational Support between these two groups,and students in Grade 8have better perception than students in Grade 9.While there are no significant differencesin their perception of Task Orientation and Class Order.
