1.1A Brief Overview of the Current ELT in Secondary Vocational School
蓬勃发展中等职业教育和我国经济的快速发展,中等职业学校的高素质人才的迫切需要,谁能够适应现代社会,改造社会,推动社会向前发展。 21^^世纪教育,培养学生的应用能力,英语和综合素质的长远目标的中等职业学校英语教学。如今,对于大多数中等职业学校的学生在英语十分头疼,他们普遍缺乏学习英语的兴趣,他们不喜欢这门课程,甚至恨它,因为他们的低级别的英语和学习习惯差。更糟的是,目前,很多老师仍然使用传统的的教学方法集中在词汇和语法,教室是教师为中心的。在整个课程中,老师不断地讲就像一个激动人心的讲话,他们尽力所谓有用的知识注入到学生的大脑,他们为学生很少有机会听,说,读,写,和可怜的孩子可能是完全提不起兴趣,无论老师说什么,但他们有被动和傻傻听他们亲爱的老师,有时,它们是折磨,所以他们不能在这个过程中得到任何的成就感,所以他们选择放弃起来。然而,我们可以看到一个完全不同的画面,当我们的学生们坚持他们的珍贵的电脑,我们可以看到笑容,笑容,他们的心脏是其外底尚未看到这么长的时间在他们的脸上。中等职业学校教师在考虑如何三思而后行的过程中,英语成为了那当然是有趣的,有用的,对学生有意义的,这是必要的。With the thriving of the secondary vocational Education and the rapiddevelopment of economy in our country, high-quality personnel from the secondaryvocational schools is needed urgently who can adapt to the modem society, maketransformation of the society and promote the society to move forward. For theeducators of the 21^^ century, cultivating students' application capability of Englishand overall quality are the long-term goals of the English teaching in the secondaryvocational schools.Nowadays, English for most of the students in the secondary vocational schoolsis a big headache, they are commonly lack of the interests in learning English, they donot like this course and even hate it because of their low level of English and poorlearning habits. What's worse, at present, a lot of teachers still use the traditionaltcaciiing methods which concentrate on vocabulary and grammar, and the classroomis teacher-centered. During the whole lesson, the teachers speak unceasingly likemaking an exciting speech, they try their best to infuse the so-called useful knowledgeinto their students' brain, they provide the students little opportunities to listen, speak,read and write, and the poor children may be completely uninterested in whatever theteachers say, but they have to listen to their dear teachers passively and innocently,sometimes, they are tortured, so they can't get any sense of achievement in this course,so they choose to give up. However, we can see a totally different picture when ourstudents stick to their treasured computers; we can see the smile, the smile that is fromthe bottom of their heart hasn't been seen on their faces for a so long time. It isnecessary for the teachers in the secondary vocational schools to consider how tomake the course of English become a course that is interesting, useful, andmeaningful to the students.
In the last three decades, Information Technology has progressed by leaps andbounds. With this rapid progress, it has now become feasible and affordable to integrate MultiMedia Technology into the English teaching and learning process. Thisintegration is expected to alter considerably the instructional strategies in oureducational institutions and change the ways of teachers' teaching and students'learning. The author is a teacher in a secondary vocational school, her students showmore interests in computer and the internet than in English. On account of this, herthesis is aimed at the experiment on how to arouse the students' interests in learningEnglish in the secondary vocational schools and how to cultivate the students'practical abilities of exploration, self-directed learning and cooperation through themeans of information technology.


1.2 Significance of the research
