Research On The Gates Of Lahore Economics Essay

The following research is based on the gates of Lahore, from those 7 are remain in their original condition. The aim of this research is to discuss the socio-economic issues of the residents of the walled city. Our prime focus was Bhati Gate and Lohari Gate. For this purpose, we visited walled city 3 times. We interviewed 9 different persons at different places of walled city and extracted loads of information through them. 50 questionnaires were also distributed among different people at snooker clubs, gaming zones, university fellows, family and relatives. After gathering all the information, we worked on analyzing and interpreting it, and finally drew conslusions and possible solutions to the socio-economic issues.

Introduction

The gates of Lahore have always been the center of attention for historians, tourists as well as residents who have always highlighted the historical importance and history of these gates neglecting the living conditions of the people living in these areas and the problems faced by them. These problems are being aggravated and they have become menaces for our society.

Researchers and historians have not paid attention to these issues which needs to be highlighted. People in these areas are experiencing poor quality of life. They don't have proper civic facilities like electricity, sanitation, water supply. In addition to this the level of education is very low and child labor is quiet dominant in these areas. Crime rate has reached alarming levels during the past few years and the living standards have become very low.

Our study would briefly discuss the socio-economic issues of the people residing in these areas which will create awareness among the government as well as NGOs. This research can be beneficial for the society and help to counter the increasing crime-rate in the city. This can also be advantageous for the society by informing the government of the problems which are continuously being neglected by them and becoming the source of discontentment among these people. Further, this research can prove to be an eye-opener for both the officials and the upper class who can be a source of help in resolving these issues.

Our study would cover the social issues which include lack of proper education which results in child labor and increasing criminal activities. In addition to this, the economic issues like infrastructure and other basic amenities which are seriously damaging the economy of the area. The role of government in these areas is highlighted and recommendations are provided in the study.
