The level of education provided in these areas is very low. Due to poverty and less awareness many parents don't even bother sending their children to school. The literacy rate in Pakistan is very low. And this explains why child labor is common and practiced. After interviewing one of the teachers of Rang Mehal School named ‘Muhammad Younas' we came to know that the level of education is backwards will not allow the children to excel. He said that this was due to less skilled teachers and the lack of funds. He said this is why most of the parents here prefer that their child earns rather than studies and wastes their money.

Criminal Activities in Walled City

As real prices are increasing and shortage of goods and services is also increasing, this results inflation. And inflation seems to be resulting unemployment. And unemployment is directly proportional to increase in criminal activities. statistics of past decade tells us that criminal activities are increasing with unusual rate worldwide, so is the case in Pakistan. Crime rate is increasing everywhere in Pakistan and with the same rate in Lahore. Lahore is the biggest city of Pakistan with respect to population factor. Lahore is standing on the first rank by population of approximately 1.5 million according to the census of 2006 (Musharaf Government). So, rise in the criminal activities in Lahore is a big thing to worry for National as well as Provincial Governments. (I would also like to mention here that this figure only includes people those are registered in the database of National Database and Registration Authority [NADRA] with their National Identity Card, Form ‘B', or Birth Certificate.)

If we go through different daily publishing newspapers of Lahore and 24x7 news channels then we would come to know that there is not a single day when nothing criminal is happening on the streets of Lahore. But, if we make a direct comparison between walled city and remaining parts of Lahore then we come to know that more crime incidents are happening in walled city as compared to the other parts of Lahore. I have randomly picked fifty news items regarding criminal incidents in Lahore from 5 different daily publishing newspapers of Lahore of past 5 years such as Pakistan Today, The Nation, The News, The Dawn, and Express Tribune. And from these fifty news items, thirty-two were about the criminal incidents which happened inside walled city and remaining were about the criminal incidents happened in Lahore excluding walled city. So it can also be seen from this random survey the difference between rising trend of criminal activities in walled city and remaining parts of Lahore excluding walled city.

There must be some reason of this difference in the numbers of criminal activities of walled city and other parts of Lahore. So, if we move further to examine these different statistics within one same city. Then, we would come to know that most of these criminal activities comprises of property dispute murders, mobile snatchings, car thefts, bomb blasts and last but not the least suicide attacks. Bomb blasts and suicide attacks is the problem of whole nation but if we analyze it with number game then again walled city is leading ahead then the remaining localities of Lahore.
