transformation of ideologies.” (Marris P. & Thornham S : 1999 : p271). With regards to Mods and Skinheads, visually they look different from what people claim to be of “normal” society. Their differences are highlighted through the media, which introduce people to a preconceived notion of their culture. Any negative portrayal is highlighted and critics jump on board to humiliate or embarrass any credibility the culture has. When you have a group of people who choose to oppose mainstream values and beliefs or who choose to be different instead of embracing ones originality, subcultures are not given air to breath in regards of displaying what they are about.

Stanley Cohen in 1972 describes media coverage of Mods and Rockers in the United Kingdom in the 1960s as a factor in moral panic. A moral panic is created on exaggerated views that a cultural movement is socialy deviant and is considered a threat to society. These panics are instigated by media coverage. The chapter does sway into discussing moral panics caused due to the emergence of subcultures. It indicates that the media would increase coverage of an event, further indicating that event would occur again. It states that views from people reacts them to go about doing something about it. I see the idea of moral panics likened to the domino theory, as when one person identifies something as of a social deviancy, the word is spread, which in fact intensifies the whole situation further. Moral panics are important to look at because they raise awareness to the situation at hand.

The chapter talks briefly about romance culture, with the idea of young girl’s romantic attachment to pop stars. I think it is pretty easy to label anything as apart of a culture, as the chapter emphasises on pop Music, rave culture gender and the notion of teeny bop culture of romance. I believe everyone is obsessed with the idea of celebrity and young females are no exception. As a female growing up, they are conformed to the ideology of what it means to be a woman and growing up they stay at home under parental control and for girls they fall into a world where they are deluded from the norm, wanting to escape, and they do so either through music or dance. “Young pre-teen girls have access to less freedom than their brothers because they are deemed to be more at risk on the streets from attacks.” (Mcrobbie A : 1991 : p12). Girls have formed teeny bop cultures in which they are attracted or attached to a pop star or pop group. When at home they indulge in listening to pop music a type which is innocent and does not contain any form of abrasive lyrics. The idea of romance is important. “It is gender therefore which structures differences rather than sub cultural attachment.” (Mcrobbie A : 1991 : p6). Romance culture is an apparatus which shapes the differences in gender between man and female. Its importance shapes a females mind frame.

With regards to race, there was immense impact of black culture on white British people, particularly through the music scene with regards to Bob Marley and the whole reggae scene. Adopting a culture is always a strange process. The notion of infl论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
