pportable conclusions and make recommendations for change.
Your topic should be chosen from one of the following:
1. An investigation of an issue of academic interest in the field of business and management
2. A critical review of literature relating to a clearly defined topic area in the field of business and management
3. An investigation of a practical business or management issue
4. A live problem-solving project within an organisation.
5. Another business or management project approved by the Project Report Co-ordinator
Your final work should demonstrate that you can:
• Prepare a realistic implementation plan for your research
• Understand the principles or theory underpinning the issue or problem that is being investigated
• Identify how to investigate an issue in order to reach a reliable view
• Present data and other information in a clear and logical manner using quantitative or qualitative methods as appropriate
• Critically analyse, interpret and evaluate data and other information
• Develop concise and logical arguments
• Draw relevant and valid conclusions and make recommendations which are appropriate to the issue or problem
Whilst there is no prescribed format for the Project Report, a report of this kind would normally contain an abstract or brief summary, an introductory section outlining the nature and context of the chosen issue or problem, a research strategy (explaining how you have approached the task), a number of development sections (or findings) and a conclusion and recommendations. The precise headings and sub-headings you use will depend on the type of project.
3. What is Required?
You are required to submit three pieces of written work:
• A project proposal – a hard copy (not e-mail) This will describe the rationale for the project, the aim and objectives, the research strategy involved (or the key secondary literature to be reviewed) and identify key stages in the preparation of the project. As a guide, the suggested length of the outline is approximately 1500 words and accounts for 20% of the final mark.
• The final project report – two bound copies to be submitted to the Assignments Office (M208) by Friday 20th August 2010. The structure of the report will depend upon the nature of the project undertaken, but will demonstrate appropriate professional and academic competence. The length of the completed Project Report is 8000-10,000 words
4. How is the Project Report Marked?
