A report style format is acceptable and word length should be a minimum of 2000 words excluding references/bibliography. The structure of the questions is itself a basic outline for writing a research proposal, though your specific research area may some require alteration of structure/approach. The process of refining research ideas into research questions, aims and then objectives is dealt with in class sessions and the Research Proposal Advice Workshop at which you will need to bring along a short outline of your research proposal. Remember- just because you do not yet have a clear idea of what you want to do does not mean you cannot write a clear research proposal. Questions: 1, Provide an outline research strategy for an appropriate research project in your subject area ( see notes at end of document). This research plan should include as separate sections: i. A working title, which should encapsulate the aims, scope and strategy of your study. ii. An evaluation of your initial research ideas and research questions developed from them (these can be based on assessments 1&2 it is not compulsory). iii. Specific and separate aims and objectives of the study, objectives should be numbered and linked specifically to research methods. iv. d)A research timetable( this can go in an appendix if preferred). 2. Describe and justify your choice of research methods for the study outlined in Q.1. You should cover the following in separate sections: i. A short statement of your overall research perspective or strategy. ii. How you would intend to gain access to appropriate sites, data or informants for your study. iii. The methods of data collection you intend to use and a justification of their appropriateness, strengths and weaknesses in relation to your study, including relevant references to the literature. iv. How you would construct your sample frame and an outline of your sampling strategy ( this will of necessity be somewhat idealized). v. An indication of what type of analysis you would wish to perform on your data. vi. Any problems you might anticipate ( e.g. in access or sampling, etc.) and how you might resolve these. vii.
