Assessment Criteria:
Content criteria will be specific to the chosen title and topic area, which you may wish to discuss with appropriate tutors.
Evaluation of your understanding of the research process will address depth of detail on, and sensitivity to, methodological issues and quality of linkages to course material.
You should avoid making your aims too vague as this generally leads to too wide a range of specific objectives and to proposal which are not viable in terms of times, scope of depth- remember, your overall task is to refine your research ideas into specific research questions and to present a coherent proposal which should enable you to address your questions realistically.
Though it is impossible for you to accurately predict levels of access available to you and consequently to determine a precise sample frame, you should still be able to propose what kinds of access would be needed and rough estimates of the ideal sample frame and sampling strategy needed in order to collect the kind of data you propose. Sampling is often covered badly in these assessments so check that you have covered it adequately.
Notes:
This does not imply that you must later stick to the research area you have chosen. If it is appropriate, you should look upon this assessment as an opportunity to get ahead of the game in the process of planning your
dissertation and to test out ideas and possibilities that you can later refine. As with assessment 1, you should remember to explain or define terms and concepts utilized.

May 07-September 07. Continuation of fieldwork and comparative analysis of data within 4 more organizations. Exploration of ISO 9001 literature to engage in possible comparative study to enhance and further increase the validity of the data sets gathered.
September 07 – onwards. Begin to present findings at leading conferences
October 07 – November 07. Areas for respondent validation analyzed for further exploration and generation of theory/data.
December 07 – May 08. Fieldwork gathered for final one or two ( as required) organizations. This phase includes respondent validation and continued data analysis.
June 08 – December 08. Comparative analysis of all data.
January 09 – December 09. Final
thesis write up and preparation for research defence.
