摘要:本文使用文献的方法来研究过去和现在的文学理论词汇教学方法。

Furthermore, inwriting, college students have to accomplish general writing task, they can express theirpersonal experience, viewpoint, emotion and incident happen around them, they canfinish common practical writing in English, and write a 120-word essay in half an houron general topic or outline,with complete content, clear center idea, proper wording andin semantic coherence. They can acquire basic writing skills. And in Translation, studentsare expected to translate their familiar themes' passages by consulting the dictionary,with the speed of 300 words each hour in English, and 250 words in Chinese. And thetranslation ought to be mainly precise, without obvious errors in expression andcomprehension. (The College English Curriculum Requirements, 2007)However, to college students, especially the lower grades,memory andaccumulation on vocabulary are exactly the difficulties they feel hard to conquer. Moststudents echo that they would forget what they memorized after a few days, or howboring on bearing words,so they are lack of motive and interests in memorizingvocabulary, they are passive and dodging on face of remembering new words.In recent years, a majority of teachers pay an increasing emphasis on vocabularyteaching in college English and they are constantly exploring better vocabulaiy teachingmethod in practice. But, in English classes, some vocabulary teachings are stripedpants,insubstantial and worthless,although they're very rich in content or activitiesarrangement, but the learning efficiency of students is not high enough

 

1.2 Significance of the study
The context based vocabulary teaching method, which means to teach words incontext,and it is also called contextual vocabulary teaching. This method can turn thedull and boring word-teaching class into vivid and interesting, meanwhile it can changethe state of presenting vocabulary isolated in the past, send the dishwatery-like process inmemorizing words into amusing, and develop students' skills in all round,includinglistening,speaking,reading and writing. Furthermore, it can broaden their learningchannel,raising study efficiency,cultivate their interests in learning foreign language,and enhance their memory and thinking capacity,foster their imagination and creativity,lay a good foundation for lifelong study.To teach vocabulary in context (contextual vocabulary teaching) would bring morelanguage inputs and create more contexts, which could improve students' competence inlistening; when their vocabulary accumulate to a certain extent, their reading andwriting ability could be promoted simultaneously. In real class, students have to use avariety of sensory to keep pace with the rate of progress set by teachers; therefore,contextual vocabulary teaching will boost their desire for applying those four skills(listening, speaking, reading and writing) intangibly, even accompany with their ability intranslating.In the meantime, capacities in thinking, memory,imagination and creation whichclosely related with their future study would be evolved as welL With the improvementof competence, students would have more interests and motives in learning automatically,the whole class will be taken on a new look.
