哦,不。不是词汇的另一个话题。是什么让这个人有什么不同?如雨后春笋般的实验研究和词汇研究发表在该领域的教学和参考材料足以淹没甚至词法专家试图跟上当前趋势。但这些研究很少能够进行词汇教学的实践和学习中内蒙古师范大学学报(IMNU)。非英语专业学生在六年(IMNU)作为一所大学的英语老师,经常听见这样的抱怨是多么枯燥和艰难的学习英语单词的学生,他们中的一些甚至放弃学习英语,因为英语单词记忆的沉重负担。在同一时间,英语单词怎么教教师之间的辩论是愤怒。他们中有些人认为,在英语词汇学习有没有捷径可走,因此,它是没有用的,花费太多时间在课堂上的词汇教学,上课时间是有限的,对非英语专业学生在内蒙古师范大学学报(IMNU)而另一些人认为它是非常重要的,给学生一些有效的词汇学习的传导。语言教学法词汇多年来在许多不同的方式看待和处理。面对这些矛盾,本文试图探索在IMNU非英语专业学生的词汇学习测试词汇量的大小,并进行词汇学习策略的调查问卷,以便给未来的词汇学习的一些提示和教学大局(在IMNU)。Oh, no. What makes this one any different?The mushrooming amount of experimental studies and pedagogical and Referencematerial in the field of vocabulary studies being published is enough to swamp evenlexical specialists trying to keep abreast of current trend. But seldom could thesestudies conduct the practice of vocabulary teaching and learning in Inner MongoliaNormal University (IMNU). As a college English teacher for non-English majors forsix years in (IMNU), it is quite often to hear the complaint from the students of howboring and difficult learning English words is, and some of them even give uplearning English because of the heavy burden of memorizing English words. At thesame time, the debate for how to teach English words between teachers is furious.Some of them hold that there is no short cut in English vocabulary learning; therefore,it is no use spending too much time teaching vocabulary in class, given that the classtime is limited for non-English majors in Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU).While others think it is of great importance to give students some conduction oflearning vocabulary efficiently. Language pedagogy has viewed and treatedvocabulary in many different ways over the years. Facing with these contradictions,this thesis is trying to explore the overall situation of vocabulary learning fornon-English majors in IMNU by testing the vocabulary size and conducting acomprehensive questionnaire of vocabulary learning strategies so as to give somehints for future vocabulary learning and teaching in (IMNU).


1.1 The essential role vocabulary learning playing in foreign language learning
Words are the building block of English language. The importance of vocabularyis obvious since vocabulary is a core component of language proficiency and providesmuch of the basis of how well learners speak, listen, read and write. Without anextensive vocabulary and strategies for acquiring new vocabulary, learners oftenachieve less than their potential and may be discouraged from making use of languagelearning opportunities around them such as listening to the radio, listening to nativespeakers, using the language in different context, reading, or watching television.What many language teachers might have intuitively known for a long time, thatprofound vocabulary knowledge is essential in every stage of language learning, isnow being openly stated by some second language acquisition researchers.
