摘要：Through the qualitative analysis on selected dialogue with interjections，this paperanalyzes how interjections make use of their language features to perform strategies. Sothe data collected in this paper serves to the purpose that interjections have a clear andindispensability communicative intention, for instance, interjections used for cooperation,or taking a turn and so on.

Interjections are flexible in theirreal applications, and we should find out what is more reliable for us to know how to useinterjections to rich our sayings and show intentions.In daily talking, we adopt proper means such as wording, body language or non-verbalsounds to realize our communicative intention. Using language is the process of choosing.By choosing, we mainly try to make our idea express more effectively, efficiently andprofoundly. Interjections as a common part of speech in casual talking have their naturalconnections among language forms and body language. By using interjections, people canexpress their emotion directly, and besides, according to recent years’ study, interjectionsare not only limited in suddenly emotional expressing. More and more scholars applypragmatic theories and principle to analyze linguistic phenomenon.

Chapter Two An Overview of English Interjections

This chapter will cover these questions: what are English interjections , what are theirfunctions, what about their features in real application and how the previous scholars havestudied interjections, what enlightenment we can gain from their previous research oninterjections , including the perspective of this paper .

2.1Definition of English Interjection
The definitions of interjection have different statements in different book with obviousfocuses. Overall different definitions of interjections have close relations with sounds,syntax independence to sentence and emotional expressing. Here are some typicaldefinitions cited as follows: From the definitions listed above provide references to distinguish interjections fromother part of speech. Based on the prospective of syntax and semantics, interjectionsessentially are a direct expression of peoples’ mind. No grammatical relation to the rest ofsentence is its basic feature. Flexible pitch and intonation are its advantages but alsoobvious features in conveying special meanings with vivid facial expressions. Last but notleast, interjections need to relay on the specific context to embrace their connotations,which is much more adhesive than any other parts of speech in English. Features ofinterjections on linguistic level can be summarized as following: randomly interjecting,independent syntactic structure, flexible intonations and facial expressions, no inflection,fuzzy semantic explanation and strong context adhesion. Feature summary should not be afull stop here unless we have taken the pragmatic functions of interjections intoconsideration, and that interjections are used to ‘initiate conversations’ listed above issucceeding to confirm this consideration.
