摘要：语言与文化密不可分。语言是文化的载体，它与文化的关系是部分与整体的关系，也就是说语言是文化的一部分。由于各国的历史渊源及地域环境等方面的差异，不同的国家有不同的文化背景。语言又是文化的一部分，所以语言的不对等性在一定程度上反映了文化的不对等性，而文化的不对等又在很大程度上影响着语言，从而导致语言的不对等。中国与英语国家具有完全不同的文化背景，中文与英语又分属于两个完全不同的语系，因此，中国文化对中文，英美文化对英语都有极为巨大的影响，而这种影响又会在很大程度上影响中国的英语教学。本文从中英社会习俗、宗教信仰、地域环境、思维方式、固有观念、体态语、比喻与联想等几个方面比较了文化的不对等对语言和中国英语教学的影响，以及在中国的英语教学中如何克服这些负面影响，促进中国英语教学，提高学生的英语交际能力，以便他们能更好地适应中国的对外开放政策.
Abstract： Language cannot be separated from culture. Language is the carrierof culture, and their relationship is part and whole, that's to say, languageis a part of culture. Since language is a part of culture, thenon-equivalences of languages reflect the non-equivalences of cultures,and the non-equivalences of cultures have influences on languages to agreat extent, therefore these influences lead to the non-equivalences oflanguages.  China  and  English-speaking countries  have  completelydifferent cultural backgrounds, and Chinese and English belong to twoabsolutely different language families, so Chinese culture has very greatinfluence on the Chinese language, while the culture of English-speakingcountries has great influence on the English language, and theseinfluences will have a great impact on English teaching in China to alarge  degree.  This  thesis  makes  a  contrast  between  China  andEnglish-speaking countries  in the aspects such as social customs,religious beliefs, regional environment, the way of thinking, fixedconcepts, body language, metaphors and associations and their influenceson the Chinese and English languages and English teaching in China.This thesis also refers to how to avoid those ne酬ive effects of culturalnon-equivalences on English teaching in China so as to improve Chinese  English teaching and Chinese student.' communicative competence inEnglish so that they can meet the needs of China's open-door policy tothe whole world
