1.2 Reason for choosing the topic
During the cross-cultural communication, people from different cultural backgrounds often lack the understanding of heterogeneous culture, which may often cause misunderstanding. American educator Winston Bulunmuboge said: “Taking the way of only teaching students language without the culture is the best way to develop fluency language idiot.” (Cited in 朱俊爽,葛文山:4) In that case, it is difficult for our students to adapt to the new century. Chapter Two Literature Review
Since the cultural teaching is very significant, many researchers abroad and in China have worked on this topic for a long time. They intend to offer an effective and proficient way to improve cultural teaching in class. For that purpose, they have made plenty of research which is very essential for cultural teaching. 2.1 Language and culture
For the concept of language, different period, scholars in different fields have different understandings and interpretations. At present, with the development of anthropology, linguistics and cultural linguistics, it is generally reached a consensus: language is a social phenomenon and cultural phenomenon, it is as a means for communication.
