readers’ reading effect. With various types of reading modes in hand, readers will achieve better and more efficient reading effects. Even  though  researches  on  reading  have  been  carried  out  for  more  than  a  century, exploration  on  explicit  establishment  of  reading  mode  has  not  started  until  recent  decades. With  the  development  of  psychology  and  psycholinguistics,  scholars  begin  to  realize  the importance  of  reading  mode.  They  are  intended  to  find  out  factors  of  reading  as  well  as  to describe the mode starting from reader’s eye touching upon the texts till their grasping of the understanding of the passage.

2.2   Schema theory
From  the  perspective  of psychology and cognitive  science,  schema depicts  an organization  model  of  thoughts  or  actions,  which  organize  all  types  of  information  and  the relationship  between  them. In  the  meanwhile,  it  could  be  described  as  the  psychological structure  of  preconception,  the  framework  representing  certain  aspects  of  the  world,  or  the system of the organization and perception of new information as well.  Philosopher  Kant  ((1781)  first  comes  up  with  the  term  of  “schema”  in  his  works.  He mentions that new information or new concept received are meaningless in itself, instead, they only  carry  with  meaning  after  relationship  is  established  between  the  exiting  knowledge. Cognitive  psychologist  Bartlett(1932)  regards  schema  as  a  type  of  memory  mode,  holding that schema is a positive organization for previous responses and experience. Namely based on  previous  experiences,  schema  will  reconstruct  and  transform  the  new  stuffs  (Chen Xianchun,  198:  141).  Anderson  (1978)  believes  that  schema  will  provide  psychological framework  for  understanding  the  new  information,  promoting  the  searching  for  respective information in the memory. Rumelhart (1980) perceives that schema is stored in the long-term memory  hierarchically,  representing  knowledge  at  various  abstract  levels  (Chen  Xianchun, 1998:  145-146).  Similarly,  Widdowson  (1983)  and  Cook  (1989)  take  schema  as  the knowledge structure composed by pre-existed knowledge (Cui Yaping, 2002).
