4.1 Major Findings of Grammatical Metaphor in EGWR in 2015

There  are  714  clauses  in  the  English  version  of  Government  Work  Report  in 2015,  of  which  421  Grammatical  Metaphor,  including  ideational  Grammatical Metaphor  and  textual  Grammatical  Metaphor.  The  percentage  of  Grammatical Metaphor  in  the  English  version  of  Government  Work  Report  in  2015  is  59.0%,  of which 39.1% is ideational Grammatical Metaphor and 19.9% is textual Grammatical Metaphor. Table  4.1  shows  ideational  Grammatical  Metaphor  and  textual  Grammatical Metaphor  are  highly  used  in  the  English  version  of  Government  Work  Report  in 2015  with  the  percentage  of  39.1%  and  19.9%  respectively.  However,  there  is  no interpersonal  Grammatical  Metaphor  used  in  the  English  version  of  Government Work Report in 2015.  The English version of Government Work Report in 2015 is a kind of language functional  variation.  Ideational  Grammatical  Metaphor  and  textual  Grammatical Metaphor are widely used in it. As for interpersonal Grammatical Metaphor, there is no  sign  showing  the  existence  of  it.  It  means  the  modal  verbs  used  in  it  can  be ignored. It shows the information in an objective way.

Conclusion

A  detailed  discussion  of  the  English  version  of  Government  Work  Report  in 2015 in the perspective of Grammatical Metaphor is included in present thesis. After a  thorough  analysis  of  Grammatical  Metaphor  employed  in  the  English  version  of Government Work Report in 2015, the major findings are as follows: There are two kinds of Grammatical Metaphors, that is ideational Grammatical Metaphor  and  textual  Grammatical  Metaphor,  used  in  the  English  version  of Government  Work  Report  in  2015.  To  be  more  specifically,  7  types  of  ideational Grammatical  Metaphors,  namely,  type  1,  type  2,  type  5,  type  6,  type  10,  type  12, type 13 are employed. The percentage of them is 10.8%, 44.0%, 1.4%, 11.5%, 0.7%, 1.1%, and 30.5% respectively.
