Lincoln Park Seattle

Lincoln Park is the oldest and one of the larger Seattle City parks. It is based in West Seattle and is a short distance north of the Fauntleroy ferry dock. It occupies mostly the Williams Point. The beach is about a mile long and thanks to the seawall, the park is stabilized for the entire length. The beach is located on the south side and it constantly undergoes erosion and also has sandy and steep grounds. Observation Towers

The observation towers are structures used to view the events from a long distance. It creates a full 360 degree range for vision that is usually 20 meters. These are made from stone, wood and iron. The modern observation towers also serve as TV towers, churches and restaurants. The first observation tower was used in Germany at the end of the 18th century. Hiram M. Chittenden Locks

The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are a complex of locks that are located in the middle of Salmon Bay, part of Seattle’s Lake Washington Ship Canal. They are known locally as the Ballard Locks after the neighborhood to their north. The Hiram M. Chittenden locks actually serve three purposes to maintain the water level of the fresh water Lake Union and Lake Washington, to prevent the mixing of sea water from Puget Sound with the fresh water of the lakes, and to move boats from the water level of the lakes to the water level of the Puget Sound and vice versa.
