Chapter One Project Survey

1.1 Features and Significance of Source Text

This project is carried out with 7 Business Habits That Drive High Performance, anenterprise management book, as its Source Text(hereinafter referred to as ST). 7 BusinessHabits That Drive High Performance is written by Nicholas Barnett and published inAustralia in 2014, which haven’t any Chinese version yet. This excellent book, consistingof 15 chapters, mainly talks about which kind of seven habits that can drive highperformance from the perspectives of leaders, employees and customers.

As a guidebook about how to manage and direct companies, 7 Business Habits ThatDrive High Performance bears several particular features. To start with, this book, as anadministration text, is obviously specialized in its nature. It is strictly organized and coversa large magnitude of disciplines such as economics, leadership, institution systems, etc, which can be manifested by numerous specialized vocabularies, including Net PromoterScore(Chapter 8 in ST), Customer Loyalty(Chapter 8 in ST), One-off Transaction(Chapter8 in ST) and so on. Second, this book endeavors to introduce seven business habits, as aresult of which it turns to be practical. It has proffered a large quantity of suggestions andrecommendations in terms of how to enhance company’s performance. As such, it bringscertain practical and empirical values to enterprises, institutions and non-profitorganizations. Last but not least, it is formal when it comes to its usage of words.Numerous statistics and researches can be found in this book so as to ensure its accuracyand meticulousness.

1.2 Process of Translation

As implied in the Relevance Translation Theory, the responsibility to avoidmisunderstanding falls on the speaker or translator who should make sure that anypresented information is optimally relevant, while the listener or reader can obtainmaximal contextual effects or relevant information with minimal effort extortion(Sperber& Wilson 1986:43). To put it another way, the translation should contain two rounds of“ostensive-inferential processes”. One is between the ST author and translator, whileanother between translator and readers. Therefore, there should be three stages in thetranslation process of the book, 7 Business Habits That Drive High Performance:pre-translating, while-translating as well as proofreading and revising.

1.2.1 Pre-translating

First and foremost, in order to understand the informative and communicativeintentions of the writer of 7 Business Habits That Drive High Performance, the reportauthor(namely the translator) read through the book three times. For the first time, thetranslator read over the book to get a general idea and marked all obscure words and difficult sentences. Next the translator read the text in an intensive manner and endeavoredto make every confusing word, sentence and paragraph thoroughly apprehended by turningto several tools, such as Google, Wikipedia and English-Chinese Dictionary edited by LuGusun, etc. And for the last time, the report author went through the book from theperspective of the whole context and framework to connect all information an论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
