摘要:本文英语教学论文,语言的学习主要是通过一系列认知活动,如 理解、思考、想象、关注和记忆。语言学习本质上是一个认知过程。
2.2 Foreign Language Anxiety
Although anxiety is defined differently by different researchers, it is generallyrecognized as one of emotional variables and a kind of abnormal psychologicalphenomenon.Horwitz (1986) considered anxiety as restlessness, worry or fear produced bypeople when involved in threatening events. It was “the subjective feeling ofnervousness, fear and worry, and it was related to the awakening of automatic nervoussystem”.Pielberger (1983) argued that anxiety was “a kind of subjective feeling, namely,the emotion of nervousness, fear and worry as the automatic nervous system isawakened”.According to Wang Yinquan and Wan Shuyu (2001), anxiety is an emotionalstate of nervousness and fear produced when someone’s self-esteem andself-confidence is hurt or his/her feeling of failure or guilt increases due to his/herfailure to reach the goal or overcome the barrier. Foreign language anxiety was researched as an independent phenomenondifferent from other kinds of anxiety in the process of language learning for the firsttime by Horwitz and his colleagues in 1986. Horwitz and his colleagues founded intheir research that a significant number of students think that foreign language classmakes them more anxious than any other class. According to him, “foreign languageanxiety is a kind of obvious self-perception, belief and feelings related to languagelearning class and produced in the process of language learning”.
