1. Discuss the role played by the EU as a global actor, with specific reference to its relations with either the US, China, Latin America or the ACP countries

Aims

The aims of this course unit are to enable participants to acquire a good understanding of European economic and political governance, with particular foci on economic policy making and reform within the EU, and to develop an informed understanding of the UK’s approach to the EU and priorities for action.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module, students should be able to:

• describe and explain European economic and political governance, with particular foci on economic policy making and reform within the EU

• develop an analysis based upon political economy and apply that analysis to the process of European integration and to the UK’s approach to that process.
