Porter very rightly quote this statement, we will analyze his observations by discussing his arguments. Porter's statement is very clear and it can be analyzed verified very easily. Porter's text, which also composes an important point reference for this research, actually underlines that firms, not nations, compete in international markets. With this statement the author wants to underline that the outcome of thousands of struggles in individual industries verifies the situation of a nation's economy and capacity to progress.

Porter's theory about the nation's competitive advantage can also be argued by looking at an example where a firm has acted in that manner. Multi national companies all over the world are every where we see most popular examples in the beverage industry are Coca Cola Inc which we will be discussing later. The general public most of the time are at a loss how these companies came into being. An example would be Nokia. Everyone uses and enjoys Nokia cellular devices but what people don't know is that this company was initially a paper company and then they moved into making rubber products. And contrary to popular belief this company is not Japanese but they started in a small town in Finland called Nokia hence the name of the company. Porter also makes an important observation that companies not nations are at the front row of the international market. According to this observation the general public in a country has been replaced by the workforce of an organization. In other words Multi national companies today act as countries and their stock portfolio is reflected on the country's economy under whose law they operate.
