摘要:本文从文化传播的角度写了英语教学中的文化感染力对人们观念的影响。全球化不仅是经济全球化,政治和文化的全球化是不可逆的。文化全球化将不可避免地继续薛威胁而丰富的民族文化,引起了当地的文化。英语作为一种国际语言,国际地位不断提高,不能动摇。

foreign language teachers in China have begun thediscussion of the relationship between language and culture. All of them admit thatthe language acquisition should be accompanied by the acquisition of culture. Hu andGao (】997) argue that the purpose of English teaching can be discussed from threelevels; 1) From microcosmic view, the purpose of English teaching is to cultivatestudents' language competence; 2) From the middle-level view, the purpose ofEnglish teaching is the cultivation of students,communicative competence whichmainly focuses on the language communicative competence. 3) From the macroscopicview, the purpose of English teaching is to cultivate students' social-culturalcompetence. In recent years,almost all the teachers have realized the importance ofculture acquisition and tried to integrate the culture teaching into English teaching soas to improve the students' language competence. However, most of the cultureknowledge taught in EFL class is western culture, which makes students ignore thesource culture knowledge. In reality, it is a common phenomenon that when a studentis asked to talk about something related to Chinese culture,he will find it is toodifficult for him to express some culture-related phenomena clearly and easily. It iswhat Chinese scholar Cong Cong called "aphasia of Chinese culture" (Cong, 2000).


  
  1.2 The purpose of the study研究目的
  Jia states that language is a social phenomenon and it is the carrier of culture aswell (Jia, 1997). Meanwhile, language itself is a part of culture (Jia, 1997). Peopleliving in a specific society acquire its culture naturally, and in their whole life,whatthey have acquired can be embodied in many aspects. Such embodiment is what wecall cultural identity. One can get his source cultural identity by nature, however, ifone has the chance to meet new cultures,he cannot avoid encountering a newproblem~confusion of cultural identity.Second or foreign language learners are encouraged to acquire second culture tohelp them improve their foreign language competence. However, with the acquisitionof new culture,language learners may probably encounter the cultural identityconfusion. In a global age,it is almost impossible for one not to meet new cultures, letalone our English majors. So, it is interesting to conduct a study on English majors'current situation of cultural identity.So,the purpose of this thesis can be concluded as follows. Firstly, the writer aimsto demonstrate the current situation of English majors' cultural identity through aquestionnaire of cultural knowledge and attitudes. The questionnaire mainly includesthe questions of both source and target culture knowledge. And, some questionsaiming at collecting participants' cultural attitudes will also be contained. Also,thewriter will adopt research interviews to collect English majors' understanding ofglobal citizenship. Secondly, the writer will attempt to give some suggestions on howto promote English Majors' Global Citizenship and help them build an appropriatecultural identity in the global age.Based on the main purpose of the present study,the writer is going to explore theanswers for the following research questions through the empirical study.1. What knowledge and attitudes do the English majors hold toward culturalidentity? Do they have any confusion toward cultural identity?2. How do English majors understand the term Global citizenship?
