“dunno”. So such pronunciation should not appear in public speech, though we often hear the omission “I’m, we’ll”. Nonverbal communication. Posture, facial expression, gestures, and eye contact –all affect the way listener respond to a speaker. A number of studies have confirmed that personal appearance plays an important role in speechmaking. Listeners always see speakers before they hear them. Just as speakers adapt their language to the audience and the occasion, so should they dress and groom appropriately. Regardless of the speaking situation, speakers should try to evoke a favorable first impression – an impression that is likely to make listeners more receptive to what they say. Gestures appeared natural and spontaneous help to clarify or reinforce speakers’ ideas. We think of the eyes as “the windows of the soul”. We look to them to help gauge the truthfulness, intelligence, attitudes, and feelings of a speaker. So in public speech, one of the quickest ways to establish a communicative bond with listeners is to look at them personally and pleasantly to convey confidence, sincerity and conviction. 3.The features of public speech in informal style However, speech is mainly used to convey the speaker’s ideas to listeners by their language. So good speakers are audience-centered. They know the primary purpose of speech making is not to display one’s learning or demonstrate one’s superiority or blow off steam. Rather, it is to gain a desired response from listeners. The key to successful communication is to “translate a truth into language perfectly intelligible to the person to whom you speak.” For this purpose, speechmakers must use language according to the situation of their audience such as age, gender, religion, racial, ethnic, background, group membership, occupation, economic, economic position, social standing, education, intelligence, and place of residence. If the audiences are common people, speechmakers chose word too formal or use complex sentence, then the audience could not understand. So their speech cannot make any effort. Therefore, many speechmakers notice this problem, who use formal English and informal English internally, or use them together. For example, the first sentence in one speech of Norman Bethune is: Comrades, I thank you for the beautiful banners you have given to me and for the kind things you have said about me. American former president Ronald Reagan used informal language to move his audience when he made speech in many occasions during h is election. And another American former president Bush used special native pronunciation( ing→in) and some native language during his election in his political base, which shows his native features and win more votes. Use less set phrase. Most verbs in this material are informal verb such as consider, summon, confer, propose, notify, declare, and entitle. There is only one set phrase “stand for” in this context. It is much different from daily conversation. There are so many set phrases in the latter. 4.The features of public speech in literary style Speech plays an important role in English literature, many of which are famous articles in literary. These speeches, having distinctive ideas, vivid language, and graceful sentence, impressed people greatly. Some of them became the mottoes to spread widely. English speech has a long history. People in Europe and America have been advocating “the art of public speech” since the ancient times. As far as论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
