5.1 The Effects of PBL on Students’Critical ThinkingDisposition
Critical thinking disposition questionnaire was employed to EC and CC beforeand after the experiment with the aim of investigating the first research questions.Toexplore whether PBL can influence the cultivation of students’critical thinking habits,the data collected from the pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire were analyzed.Independent Samples T-test and Paired Samples T-test were conducted.The resultswere presented as followed:
5.1.1 Results of Pre-questionnaire of EC and CC
In Table 5-1,the result of the independent sample T-test is presented.It presentsthat there is no obvious distinction in their Mean between EC(113.16)andCC(114.56),which suggests that the critical thinking disposition of students in ECand CC are in the same level before experiment.Meanwhile,the t(71)=-.525(p<0.05),which is higher than 0.05,indicating that there was no significant difference found inthe two classes’questionnaire s before the experiment.

6.1 Major Findings
The primary objective of this research is to investigate the effect of PBL on thecultivation of students’critical thinking disposition.The second aim is to probe theeffect of PBL on students’critical thinking skills.
This study was conducted in a high school in Guangzhou.Two parallel classeswere randomly selected as the experiment and control class to conduct a one-semesterteaching experiment.The study involved questionnaires,reading tests,structuredinterview and classroom observation,and other research methods.Although statisticalanalysis of the data showed some statistically significant relationships,theserelationships could not be generalized to all situations.In this study,this relationshipis only revealed by the specific learner and reading context.
