1.Introduction

1.1 Research background
Language is life. Changes of language reflect not only the development of society andculture, but the change underwent by the users themselves. Spoken language exists as theinitial form of language, acquired only by our human beings among all living creatures.Apart from that, humans' abilities to invent and use tools distinguish us from other animals.Then our ingenious ancestors utilized various matters as a tool to count or record spokenlanguage, for example, rope, oracle bone, pottery, bronze, bamboo and the like. After theinvention and spread of papermaking and printing, paper has been holding the dominantplace for over a millennium. However, its position faltered by the advent of computer inthe 20th century. The first general-purpose electronic computer ENIAC (abbreviation ofElectronic Numerical Integrator And Computer) came into being in the United State in1946, and since then, computer has been displaying the wide role in all aspects of people'lives and completely changed people's way of life in a short period of sixty-six years.Owing to the enormous data storage capacity and space saving capability, the computer hasreplaced paper's privileged place as a carrier of written language for some people,especially teenagers, intellectuals and scientific staff, because teenagers are always curiosabout new and fancy matters and apt to keep up with the latest fashions, while intellectualsand scientific staff possess a comprehensive knowledge of computer. For them, computerbecomes an inseparable part in their lives.What's more, computer functions as a medium for information exchange via Internetwith the help of its convenient and efficient keyboard input system. It plays anirreplaceable role as a novel method for text-based communication, which is calledelectronic discourse (e-discourse for short). Huang Guowen (2005) gives an explicitis interactive, electronic, and displayed on the screen of the corresponding text inputthrough keyboard. "Cyberspace" here includes computer and mobile phone; "interactive"allows information to be passed continuously and in both directions but not just real-timeinteraction; "electronic" means not to use the traditional paper and ink to write;"keyboard" involves computer keyboard and phone keypad accordingly; "screen" refers tothe computer monitor as well as mobile phone display; "text-based" indicates that it is notdelivered by voice but appears in real letters. Electronic discourse takes on a wide varietyof forms in the Internet, such as chat rooms, role-playing games, e-mail, web pages, onlineforums and bulletin boards, etc., and the most favorable ones that catch many netizens'Many celebrities and scholars are the proponents and practitioners of blog. In theirspare time, updating blogs has become what they do every day as a matter of routine likeeating and sleeping.

1.2 Research objectives and significance
Although the weblog has not yet been considered as a new genre in perspective oflinguistics, it arouses many stylisticians' interest for its increasing popularity. This paperaims to figure out the peculiar stylistic features of the novel computer-mediatedcommunication (CMC for short), which is carried out in four steps. Firstly, twenty blogentry samples are collected from the website and examined carefully, during whichprominent language habits are taken note and counted.
