The conclusions of this
dissertation include three aspects:
First, the Chinese state-owned enterprises are affected by internal resources factors and external environment factors when entering the international market. The internal resources factors include the enterprise overseas experience, asset specificity, strategic capability and material resources. The external environment factors include the environmental factors of home country, macro investment factors of host country, market factors of host country and cultural distance. From the results of the questionnaire survey, the importance degree of these factors when enterprises make entry mode choice is gradually lowered. The internal resources factors are believed more important than the external environment factors when Chinese state-owned enterprises make their entry mode choice. That is to say, internal resources advantages provide opportunities and choice for the internationalization mode. Internal factors refer to factors related to the company's own conditions. Among the internal resources factors, the overseas experience is supposed to be the most important factor when making the internationalization entry
strategy. When the enterprise has plenty of overseas experience, it will be more inclined to enter the international market with the direct investment mode. Asset specificity is also recognized as important factor when making the entry mode choice. When companies have more customized products and technologies, specific investment and human resources, corporate entry mode choice space will be bigger. The companies of strength prefer direct investment into the target country; if the company lacks a certain special assets, it will seek joint venture for entry mode. While smaller enterprises adopt trade entry more in line with the target market. Therefore, the Chinese state-owned enterprise should consider the appropriate entry mode based on enterprise’s overseas experience and asset specificity. The external environment factors also influence the entry mode choice of Chinese state-owned enterprises. The environmental factor of home country is deemed to the most important factor, because the entry mode choice is always guided by the competition pressure and trade and investment policy of the home country. External environment factors refer to economic, political and cultural factors of target market country and the home country; they also have some impact for decisions of Chinese state-owned enterprises. If the home government takes an active policies (such as tax relief, economic intelligence gathering) to encourage exports and foreign investment, the company will take an active international strategy. In addition, the macro investment environment of the host country determines the investment risks. As economies of scale in host country are big, companies may consider a larger investment in the country. If the host country has perfect laws and policies, the enterprise is encouraged to choose to enter by direct investment; on the contrary, it will make enterprises to enter with the
