Abstract:The concept of the world citizen stressed generally the cultivation of common spirit and culture. American philosopher Martha C. Nussbaum published the "cultivating humanity" in the year 1997, which can be regarded as a classic discussion on world civic
Education. Although it directly related to the subject (liberal education) of the United States universities, the liberal education she called in fact is world civic education. As a result, we consider "cultivating humanity" of Martha C. Nussbaum as a starting point for the Promotion of world Civic Education. This report will focus on the idea of world citizen and the multicultural education.

1.Topic
Describe the conception of liberal arts education defended by Martha Nussbaum in Cultivating Humanity. What, according to Nussbaum, is the value of such an education? Describe the role she sees such an education playing in developing our understanding of those different from ourselves. Propose and explain at least one objection to Nussbaum’s view. This can be either an objection to her general conception of liberal studies or a more narrow objection to one of the ways in which she argues liberal studies ought to be used. Finally, compare and contrast your own view of liberal studies with that of Nussbaum.
2.Details
The paper should be approximately 1550 words.
3.Requirement:
Understanding:
you should demonstrate a clear and nuanced grasp of Nussbaum’s ideas. While you should not spend the entire paper summarizing Nussbaum, you do want to present what you take to be her main ideas.
Originality:
the majority of your paper should be devoted to a discussion of possible objections to Nussbaum’s views and an analysis of how Nussbaum’s ideas relate to your own.
Clarity:
Your writing should be clear and grammatical. Papers that do not meet graduate-level standards for writing will not receive credit.
Plagiarism:
The writing
assignments in this class are intended to be used to evaluate your understanding of the issues and your ability to construct good arguments. The work you turn in should therefore be yours alone. Presenting the words or ideas of another person as your own is plagiarism. Direct quotes must always be identified as such. The paraphrased ideas of another writer should be cited as well. If your paper contains any work that is plagiarized, you will receive 0 for the assignment and will not be allowed to resubmit a revised version.
