Thanks to the advent of the internet and all the other advancements in technology, we find it every day that it's a small world. The geographical distance that used once used to separate humans is no longer an excuse in bending forward to 'know' the other person from the other side of the globe. Many a time, in a business setting, when companies go international we find that people from many different countries and cultures set across a table to discuss and sort out issues. Often it helps to know the cultural background of the other party when contemplating a business across borders. The best way is to focus on the cultural roots, both in society and in culture, which will help to reduce unpleasant surprises, and will also enable us to interact successfully with people from other nationalities will which ultimately help in the smooth sailing of our multi-cultural ship.

To start let me illustrate with an example. Suppose there is a football or volleyball game in a western country, say Netherland. It is quite common for all the team members to have a 'shower' together in the common showers with bare or minimal clothing. A person from an eastern country, like India would be mortified even at the mention, act or thought of such a practice. This is where then term 'cultural shock' comes into the picture. Imagine if a new Indian player were part of this Dutch team. The events that would follow after a game would be too embarrassing for the Indian. A working knowledge of the basic traits of other cultures as well as our own will help us in the long way when we wish to go international or when we want to accommodate others from other societies or cultures than ours.

When we start to think about doing international business especially one where there is a joint-venture involved, many difficulties are bound to pop-up at different stages. National psychology and characteristics play a crucial role in influencing the decisions made at the middle or top management level. For example, if there is a joint-venture between Japanese and an American company, managers from both sides would have different views and priorities about the direction in which to move forward. The Japanese would concentrate their efforts to gain more market share while the Americans would think about making profit. Corporate cultures vary drastically across countries, while the diversity is lesser within a nation. This does not mean that there are no differences between companies within the same country. Different companies within the same country are bound to have their own business strategies achieved through their own action-plan. Compare Sony and Mitsubishi. Though both are renowned Japanese companies, one is famous for their论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
