摘要:英语阅读教学是语言教学的一个重要部分,阅读是语言输入和积累的主要来源和途径,也是培养学生的听、说、写、译等技能的重要环节。

Discourse analysis offers a new angle on English reading teaching.The present study is to testify the effects of discourse analysis teaching model in senior high schoolEnglish reading class. The research on the application of discourse analysis on teaching in senior highschool English reading is not only a theoretical guide for the high school English classroom teaching, butalso has a strong practical value. As English reading comprehension of students relies more on theirunderstanding of discourse rather than a single sentence, if the results of the study are positive, a newefficient teaching method in English reading will be found to cultivate students' discourse ability andimprove the reading comprehension ability.

 

1.3 Research Objectives
To learn about the current situation and problems existing in teaching English reading in senior highschool and students’ reading habits2. To testify the application of discourse analysis on teaching English reading in senior high schools3. To strengthen students’ understanding of the text and improve their reading abilities1.4 An Overall Structure of the PaperThere are five chapters in this thesis.Chapter one is the introduction of the background of the research concerning the previous studies ofdiscourse analysis at home and abroad and the motivation of research as well as the research objectives.Chapter two mainly briefly reviews the nature of the reading with three assumptions or models ofreading processing and schema theory and traditional teaching method of English reading. Then discourseand discourse analysis theory are introduced.Chapter three is the experimental research of discourse analysis on English reading in senior highschool with questionnaire and testsChapter four mainly collects data of the experiment and analyzes the data.Chapter five is the conclusion. It contains three parts, one is the summary of the research, one is theapplication and implication of the discourse analysis on English studying and teaching and the last one isthe limitations of the research.
