摘要:本文是一篇英语阅读论文,本文尝试将语域理论运用于高中英语阅读教学,探讨其对高中生英语阅读水平的影响。

e categorizes circumstancesinto two groups:context of situation and context of culture.The cultural backgroundthat underlies all cultural actions is implied by the context of culture.Context ofsituation is the environment in which speech occurs.Malinowski's theory of contextplaces great emphasis on the relationship between the meaning of language and thecontext in which it occurs.His theory laid the cornerstone of the register theory.Henot only laid emphasis on the relationship between language function and languagemeaning and the relationship between society and culture but also the functions ofsituational context and culture context,which breaks with the traditional ontologicalmonism of language studies that only studies language itself(Gao,2015).However,Malinowski,did not explicitly describe the relationship between the meaning of language and the context in which it happens because he was only interested inlanguage in particular contexts.

2.2 Previous Studies on English Reading Teaching Based on RegisterTheory

In this part,the related studies on the English reading teaching based on registertheory will be presented,which serves as the theoretical and practical foundation forthe study.

2.2.1 English reading teaching based on register theory at home

Register theory has been adopted in language teaching,translation studies,language testing,and other fields(Chang&Chen,2011).In the field of languageteaching,many scholars in China have explored the feasibility of applying registertheory to English teaching.Among English teaching based on register theory,theregister theory has been widely used in listening teaching.The application of register theory to listening teaching sheds light on reading teaching.For example,ZhangChenxiang(2006)demonstrates the necessity and feasibility of introducing theregister theory into English listening and speaking teaching for doctoral students fromteaching practice.The results of the study show that register analysis is useful forpredicting listening discourse,improving the validity of listening,learning to useappropriate language in a different discourse of fields,purposes and patterns anddeveloping learners'linguistic and communicative competence.And based on theregister theory,Li Enyao(2013)discusses the relationship between the register andthe situational context as well as with the listening discourse and incorporates theimplications of the register theory for English major listening teaching.They not onlyproved the feasibility of English listening teaching based on register theory but alsoput forward some implications of listening teaching,which also guided readingteaching such as the importance of improving students'register awareness.
