Executive summary
Nestle plays the leading role in the food industry worldwide. Its management strategies have set good example for many organizations at home and abroad. 1.0 Introduction
With more than 140-year history, Nestle Group originates from Switzerland. It produced baby food in the beginning. At present, Nestle has been the world largest food manufacturer; it has more than 500 factories in over 80 countries all over the world. There are about 25, 0000 employees in this group. In 2005, Nestle Group’s sales volume reached CHF 91 billion, increasing 7.5%. The net profit made the record, reaching CHF 8 billion. It is well-known for its chocolate and instant coffee. Senior staff in Nestle headquarters has extensive knowledge of the world and a variety of experiences and also has a deep understanding of the food business. The company focuses on the balance of its products and geographic distribution. Nestle encourages the independence of the each branch, it also tries to ensure the integrity of the company (Bordo et al 2003); this goal is realized through a stable supply of raw materials from the headquarters and regular plenary session. Without the permission of headquarters, branch companies can not introduce new products; long-term planning and budget must be submitted to headquarters to ensure technology, products and information exchanges. Nestle has close relations with national trade unions and with labor unions in Europe. In the Third World and the United States is not always the case. Therefore, the company's baby food Marketing strategies are often criticized and thus be resisted.
