on Americans The rootlessness has a deep influence on Americans. It makes Americans love liberty, democracy, equality, free movement, innovation and adventure. They believe in individualism, optimism and pragmatism. Americans have diverse names and speak various languages in their daily life. A. Liberty and Democracy American liberty and democracy cannot be understood properly without taking into consideration the colonial time and the different backgrounds of the early immigrants. Freedom of speech, freedom of religious belief and equality are three basic rights of American people. They worship freedom. As early as America was still the colonies of Britain, the consciousness of freedom was deeply rooted in American people’s mind. Democracy is always connected with liberty and equality. It is based on liberty and equality. Demand for democracy is an essential element of American culture. When America was still not an independent country, the settlers were strongly aware of the importance of democracy. Most of the settlers were from England, and at that time England was the most democratic country in Europe. The democratic ideas of the Enlightenment ideas and religious revolution were popular in England. So the Englishmen were more familiar with principles of rights and real freedom. Tocqueville said that, “at the beginning of early period of immigrating, the rudiment of liberty institution was deeply rooted in the habit of the Englishmen.”[4](P32) B. Equality Equality is an important idea of Americans. Most Americans are Christians. Nearly every American has a Bible. And in Bible, it says, “Everyone is born equal.” Equality is deeply rooted in Americans’ minds. The Declaration of Independence unequivocally upholds the principle of equality and freedom for all men, which is a public denunciation of feudal privileges for a small group of nobles. Everyone is as good as everyone else and human rights are natural rights which the government is not allowed to abridge. The government is entrusted by the governed to enforce laws passed with the consent of the governed. Government officials are public servants, not masters of the people.[5](P16) Americans do not attach importance to one’s family background or one’s previous experience or occupation in the United States. People take part in these gatherings or parties with equal status, no matter they are rich or poor. In private parties conditions are the same. Wealth does not make Americans feel superior. It is not the obstacle when people make friends, although American desire of wealth. In politics, Americans have strong will to demand equality. In the United States, governors do not get support of the masses, even though they are wealthy or gentle. Poor people can be appointed as President, only if he has enough knowledge, courage, and insight. In the United States, everyone is equal before the law. Everybody has equal rights; no matter he is rich or government officials. He has no privilege. C. Individualism American culture includes an element of deep love of individualism. Upon arriving in the colonies, most of the early immigrants found an enormous expanse of land available. The dream to own a piece of land came true and this changed their lives. They became tillers of their own land and each person worked for himself. Large expanse of land and low density of population help to cultivate self-reliance and the love of equality. Every frontiersman farmer has to rely on hi论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
